Outside our church, before Mass
This past Saturday, The Princess received her First Holy Communion. It was a beautiful day & she was SOOOOO excited! I was right behind her when she went to our deacon for the Body of Christ & to HandyGramps for the Precious Blood. Of course I was quite tearful, sharing in her joy! HandyGramps glanced up at me when he presented the chalice to her. He, too, had tears in his eyes.
The dress she wore was the one Matt's youngest sister wore about 13 years ago. The Princess wore my First Communion veil, but my dress, which we still have, was too small for her. (As you can see in THIS post from 3 1/2 years ago, she wore it for Halloween when she dressed as a bride.)
She received many beautiful gifts from family & friends. Our tradition is to buy the Blessings their own adult Bibles.
A few years ago, HandyGramps teasingly told her that he'd give her dirt for her birthday present...and he actually did give her a small bag w/ some in it. For her First Communion gift, one of the presents from my parents was a rosary made of wood from the Holy Land in Jerusalem. On the "Our Father" medal, there is a small vial that contains actual dirt from the Holy Land. So, once again she received dirt from Grandpa, but this time in a more special way!
After she opened all her gifts, HandyGramps blessed her religious items...her Bible, rosaries, jewelry, & cross.
Blessing of The Princess' Religious Items
Sunday evening, she told me that ever since she received her First Communion, she's felt so grown up & special inside!
We are so thankful to share this beautiful day w/ family & friends! It is such a blessing to see how much her faith & love of Christ has grown through the years. May God bless her as she continues this wonderful journey of faith throughout her life!
Looks like Princess really had a memorable experience with her First Communion. The most important thing is that she received Christ fully and seriously as her Lord and Savior. She will never go astray if she trusts the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind. :) - LaceAndGraceVeils.com
Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Lord God, Who has graciously chosen St. Dymphna to be the patroness of those afflicted with mental and nervous disorders, and has caused her to be an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who invoke her intercession, grant through the prayers of this pure, youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all who suffer from these disturbances, and especially to those for whom we now pray. (Here mention those for whom you wish to pray.)
We beg You to accept and grant the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant to those we have particularly recommended patience in their sufferings and resignation to Your Divine Will. Fill them with hope and, if it is according to Your Divine Plan, bestow upon them the cure they so earnestly desire. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
