Deo Gratias

"If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough." - Meister Eckhart

Colleen, from her inspiring blog Thoughts on Grace, hosts this wonderful meme each Wednesday. She says, "Deo Gratias is Latin for Thanks be to God. Remembering to give thanks for all of our blessings, big & small, helps us to find God in our everyday moments and gives us an attitude of gratitude!"

Each week, I join Colleen in remembering & sharing the many blessings in my life. This is such a great exercise for me, helping me to focus on the good that truly is happening in my life, no matter how many trials & stresses I may have.

1) Matt & I are planning an overnight trip to Amish country once he's done w/ his finals this semester. Deo Gratias!

2) Last weekend, we got together at my parents' house for a bonfire. It was the last day before my nephew left to go back to school across the country. This is the same nephew who just returned from his two year mission in Italy. Deo Gratias!

3) Picking up these extra days at work has been great...not just for the financial aspect, but I've really gotten to know more of the residents, visitors, & staff. Deo Gratias!

4) Yesterday was not a great day for me. I had a doctor's appt. & arrived only to discover that they do not take my insurance. After much prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament, I realized that even though I need to change doctors now, it's not a crisis like many of the other things going on in our world. Deo Gratias!

5) Three of the kids had eye doctor appointments on Mon. & none of them need new glasses. YAY for saving money! (Although, it makes up for the fact that mine cost more a few weeks ago when I had to get bifocals! LOL) Deo Gratias!

Light in the Darkness

"All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." ~ St. Francis of Assisi

Let us be that single candle, spreading light into a dark world!

Welcome to my Light in the Darkness meme! (If you missed my post on the inspiration for this meme, you can read all about it HERE.)

This is the place to share good things that are happening in our world...whether it's a link to a news article/video, something from your personal experience...anything good that can bring light into darkness!

1) At the end of every choir rehearsal, we sing a benediction...The Lord Bless You and Keep You. Last night's was just beautiful, echoing throughout the empty church, carrying our prayers to Heaven! Deo Gratias!

2) The Archangel turned 12 this past Saturday. He's overcome many obstacles w/ his ADHD & has grown into such a wonderful young man. Deo Gratias!

3) Last Friday, I met w/ my dear girlfriends for dinner to plan our yearly weekend getaway. This year, we're going in the fall...it will be beautiful! Deo Gratias!

4) I found a copy of Scott Hahn's book, Lord Have Mercy, at a thrift store for only $1. I've heard it's a great book & can't wait to read it! Deo Gratias!

5) Matt & I have been making a more concentrated effort to go out on dates at least once a month. We've had some great lunches, shopping sprees, & conversations. Deo Gratias!
