Deo Gratias - Recovering!

"If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough." - Meister Eckhart

Colleen, from her inspiring blog Thoughts on Grace, hosts this wonderful meme each Wednesday. She says, "Deo Gratias is Latin for Thanks be to God. Remembering to give thanks for all of our blessings, big & small, helps us to find God in our everyday moments and gives us an attitude of gratitude!"

Each week, I join Colleen in remembering & sharing the many blessings in my life. This is such a great exercise for me, helping me to focus on the good that truly is happening in my life, no matter how many trials & stresses I may have.

1) On Mon., Jan. 20, I had laproscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder. The surgery was successful & there have been no complications. Deo Gratias!

2) HelpfulGrammy & HandyGramps keep the Blessings at their house for most of that week, giving me time to recuperate & rest. HelpfulGrammy also prepared a couple meals for us.  Deo Gratias!

3) Matt took excellent care of me that week...preparing my meals, making sure I was as comfortable as possible, & just keeping me company. Deo Gratias!

4) The week after my surgery, all six of us came down w/ the flu. It was not a fun week, but I am thankful I didn't get it the week of my surgery. I can't imagine how painful coughing would have been w/ the incisions still fresh. Deo Gratias!

5) Overall, my parents were incredible during the past two weeks...making meals, picking up soup & medications since we couldn't get out, taking the boys to band, & so much more! Deo Gratias!

Light in the Darkness

Welcome to my Light in the Darkness meme! (If you missed my post on the inspiration for this meme, you can read all about it HERE.)

This is the place to share good things that are happening in our world...whether it's a link to a news article/video, something from your personal experience...anything good that can bring light into darkness!

For today, I'd like to share something simple that we can all do for others. I've done it myself & someone did it for us yesterday.

Whenever we go grocery shopping, I always have my coupon box w/ me. Even w/ my shopping list, occasionally I will come across a great deal & know I have a coupon for it. BUT, there's another great reason to have that box w/ me...

One day in the checkout lane, I noticed the woman in front of me purchasing an item. I knew I had a coupon that was due to expire soon & that I wouldn't get around to using it. I gave it to her & she was very appreciative.

Yesterday, the same happened to us...we were gathering some appetizers & picked up a bag of mozzarella sticks that were on sale. A lady next to us offered one of her coupons.

A simple gesture that can mean a lot!
