"If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough." - Meister Eckhart

Colleen, from her inspiring blog Thoughts on Grace, hosts this wonderful meme each Wednesday. She says, "Deo Gratias is Latin for Thanks be to God. Remembering to give thanks for all of our blessings, big & small, helps us to find God in our everyday moments and gives us an attitude of gratitude!"

Each week, I join Colleen in remembering & sharing the many blessings in my life. This is such a great exercise for me, helping me to focus on the good that truly is happening in my life, no matter how many trials & stresses I may have.
**********
1) I've finally found a program to help boost The Saint's reading skills. We've tried several things over the past year or so & nothing seemed to hold his interest or increase his reading. We are now using Easy Peasy All-in-One-Homeschool's plans which incorporate the McGuffey Primer & some games. He's loving it! Deo Gratias!

2) I took last Saturday off work so that I could help out w/ the Blessings & The Professor while Matt studied for his upcoming midterms. It was so nice to be home on Saturday for once. I really enjoyed my time w/ everyone! Deo Gratias!

3) At Mass on Sunday, The Princess was asked to fill in for a server who hadn't shown up. She served w/ two boys, one of which was fairly new. It was wonderful to see her helping him out when he wasn't sure what to do next. Deo Gratias!

4) With all these subzero temps & wind chills lately, I am so thankful to have a warm home...warm from the furnace, but most importantly, warm from the love of my family! Deo Gratias!

5) Matt is not good at keeping secrets sometimes, esp. when it comes to gifts for me. The other day, he decided to give me my birthday gifts early...a DVD of the movie Evita & a bottle of Wicked Wahine cologne. It's a Hawaiian cologne that I used to get at The Kahiki before it closed down. I really miss that place! Deo Gratias!

6) This is an extra submitted by HandyGramps after our three oldest helped out at his church last Friday: "I have a Deo Gratias for you.  It's for the Prophet, Archangel, and the Princess volunteering to serve at our Stations and Benediction.  It was refreshing to have three servers so willing to really serve, which they did so well.  My thanks to God and to them for their dedication."

Light in the Darkness

"All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." ~ St. Francis of Assisi

Let us be that single candle, spreading light into a dark world!

Welcome to my Light in the Darkness meme! (If you missed my post on the inspiration for this meme, you can read all about it HERE.)

This is the place to share good things that are happening in our world...whether it's a link to a news article/video, something from your personal experience...anything good that can bring light into darkness!

A mobile laundromat...what a wonderful idea to serve the homeless!

1) The Princess & I are going to teach ourselves to quilt, thanks to a great video I found at the library. Last Friday, I took her to Hobby Lobby & she got the fabrics she chose last week. Deo Gratias!

2) We started this morning w/ the Ash Wednesday Mass. I sang w/ the choir, while The Prophet & The Princess served on the altar. Deo Gratias!

3) Matt & his lab partners received a 25 out of 25 on their lab report. This is a very rare occurrence in that Anatomy & Physiology class. Deo Gratias!

4) I received the first three books in the Bellingwood Series by Diane Greenwood Muir for free on my Kindle. I am LOVING this series! There are so many wonderful, fun characters. Deo Gratias!

5) We've had quite a good amount of snow lately & it's been simply beautiful. Thankfully, I haven't had to drive too much in it & have been able to enjoy it from the comfort of our home. Deo Gratias!
