"If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough." - Meister Eckhart

Colleen, from her inspiring blog Thoughts on Grace, hosts this wonderful meme each Wednesday. She says, "Deo Gratias is Latin for Thanks be to God. Remembering to give thanks for all of our blessings, big & small, helps us to find God in our everyday moments and gives us an attitude of gratitude!"

Each week, I join Colleen in remembering & sharing the many blessings in my life. This is such a great exercise for me, helping me to focus on the good that truly is happening in my life, no matter how many trials & stresses I may have.
**********
1) My nephew has returned from his two year mission in Italy. I could see a lot of his personal growth. He's got a good head on his shoulders & we are all so proud of him. Deo Gratias!

2) On Sunday, we gathered at my parents' house to welcome him home. We ate, played cards, & shared stories of the past two years. Deo Gratias!

3) Part of Sunday included a lot of laughter...you know that contagious kind that brings tears & lots more laughter! Deo Gratias!

4) As we were leaving their house, I paused to scrape some of the freshly fallen snow off the back of our van. My parents live out in the country & there was such a beautiful, peaceful hush in the darkness. I've always loved the look & silence of a fresh coat of snow. Deo Gratias!

5) Homemade chili...after much experimentation, I've finally come up w/ a delicious chili that my whole family loves. Deo Gratias!

Light in the Darkness

"All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." ~ St. Francis of Assisi

Let us be that single candle, spreading light into a dark world!

Welcome to my Light in the Darkness meme! (If you missed my post on the inspiration for this meme, you can read all about it HERE.)

This is the place to share good things that are happening in our world...whether it's a link to a news article/video, something from your personal experience...anything good that can bring light into darkness!
***************
After 12 years of living in a vegetative state, this man awoke. Even though he was in this state, he was still aware of what was happening around him.

A wonderful pro-life story...how much would this man have missed if his family chose not to care for him during these 12 years?

1) I've spent the past two days in bed sick. I'm finally feeling better...still a bit weak & tired, but nothing like before. Deo Gratias!

2) Matt has been a tremendous help in taking care of The Blessings & me the past two days, in addition to getting his studying in. Deo Gratias!

3) I'm drinking coffee for the first time since Sunday. Deo Gratias!

4) The Blessings were very helpful the past couple days. They'd come in to check on me & offer to get things for me. Every time The Saint came in, he'd hand me my glass of water & tell me to drink some. He also gave me one of his stuffed animals to sleep with. Deo Gratias!

5) For the next couple months, I'll be picking up a few extra hours at work while my supervisor is on maternity leave. It's not a lot, but any little bit helps! Deo Gratias!
