Light in the Darkness

"All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." ~ St. Francis of Assisi

Let us be that single candle, spreading light into a dark world!

Welcome to my Light in the Darkness meme! (If you missed my post on the inspiration for this meme, you can read all about it HERE.)

This is the place to share good things that are happening in our world...whether it's a link to a news article/video, something from your personal experience...anything good that can bring light into darkness!

For today, I'm claiming "Parental Bragging Rights" for my submission!

This time of year, many churches, nursing homes, schools, etc. have a type of Giving Tree. Just after Thanksgiving, a Christmas tree covered in gift tags will go up. People are encouraged to take one of those tags & purchase a gift for the person in need on the tag (some have names & ages, some just say "Man", "Woman", or "Child"). At a specified date, the gifts are to be returned to the tree & are then distributed to those in need. What a wonderful way to spread "Light in the Darkness" of someone's life when they may not have had anything for Christmas!

It has always been a tradition for our family to take part in our parish's Giving Tree. One of our Blessings selects the name tag. As we purchase & wrap the gift, we pray for the person & their family.

This is where my bragging rights come in...When we picked up our gift tag this year, The Prophet asked if he could do one of his own. Using some of HIS OWN birthday money, he put a lot thought & love into the gift he purchased. I am so proud of his thoughtfulness.
