A Thankful Woman's Book of Blessings

My dear blogging friend, Judy, over at A Thankful Woman's Book of Blessings, hosts this meme every Wednesday. Simply list five things (or a prayer or any thoughts) for which you are truly thankful this week. Voicing my thanks helps put my life in perspective & realize that, no matter how bad things might be, there is still MUCH good surrounding me.

1) I'm thankful to have all of our Christmas shopping done (except for a couple items not needed until after Christmas).

2) Along that line, I'm thankful that over half of those gifts are already wrapped!

3) I'm thankful for the opportunity to bake w/ the munchkins. A couple of years ago I started a new tradition...each child chooses a type of cookie to bake & just the two of us make that kind. It gives me some fun one-on-one time w/ each child in the kitchen (& gives us at least four different kinds of cookies!)

4) I'm thankful the Christmas season actually goes to Epiphany on Jan. 6. While I am ahead on some things this year, I haven't gotten to my cards yet. I'm not fretting over getting them out before Christmas Day.

5) I'm thankful that Mary said, "Yes!" to our Lord. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that read, "If Mary had been Pro-Choice, then there would be no reason to celebrate Christmas!" What a powerful statement! She had so much against her...a pregnant teen, unwed, facing ridicule & possible death...but, because she trusted God, she said, "Yes" & brought salvation to all of us. Thank you, Mary, for your strong example of faith & trust in God!

Love the idea about picking a type of cookie and making it together! My mom always said she dreaded the mess of cut-out cookies but did them every year because we loved them so much. And to #5, Mary had a true "crisis pregnancy" she would have been stoned and she chose life. So important to remember.

You are on the ball this Christmas! We are keeping things simple. The tree, the lights, a few simple gifts. We did get our cards out in the mail yesterday. There is no rush and I'm glad we have until Epiphany too to celebrate the season.

I love the red and green text. Yes, I agree that baking together is such a blessing. What a lovely tradition.
